Join Our Maternity Support Worker Team
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our existing maternity support worker team on a permanent basis.
As a MSW, you will work closely with our midwifery team to deliver a high standard of safe, evidence-based care. You will care for pregnant people, postnatal people, and new-born babies.
Working with the multi-disciplinary team, you will be responsible for assisting the midwifery staff to improve and maintain high standards of safe care, health, and well-being of women and their families using the maternity service.
Key Responsibilities
1. Undertake observations of mothers and babies and report to the midwife.
2. Support mothers to establish feeding for their newborn baby and facilitate informed choice.
3. Carry out additional tasks delegated by the Registered Midwife, following appropriate training, and complete all documentation, informing the midwife of findings.
4. Maintain and prepare the antenatal/postnatal ward and delivery suite environments.
5. Clean equipment.
6. Undertake venepuncture and cannulation.
7. Process umbilical cord pH.
8. Monitor blood glucose levels in women and neonates.
