About the Role:
As an Outdoor Pursuits Mentor, you will plan and deliver engaging outdoor activities, promote teamwork, and support pupils in developing life skills. You will act as a positive role model, helping young people overcome challenges, build confidence, and develop resilience in a safe and structured environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Plan and lead outdoor learning sessions, adventure activities, and team-building exercises
* Mentor and support young people in developing confidence, resilience, and personal skills
* Build positive relationships and act as a role model for pupils
* Promote inclusion, wellbeing, and safe participation in all activities
* Work closely with teaching and pastoral staff to support behaviour and engagement
* Maintain health, safety, and safeguarding standards at all times
Requirements:
* Ex-military experience (Army, Navy, RAF or equivalent)
* Experience leading groups or mentoring young people
* Passion for outdoor education and adventure activities
* Strong communication, leadership, and behaviour management skills
* Ability to motivate and inspire young people
* Flexible, reliable, and proactive approach
* An enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply for one with GSL Education
