Summary: The role of Apprentice Procurement & Supply Chain Manager is to support and deliver commercial projects in a range of sectors including Public, Private, Infrastructure, Services & Technology. As an Apprentice Procurement Manager, your responsibility is to support the engagement lead or project manager in helping clients identify, shape, and deliver the most valuable solution to their procurement challenges. This involves advising on the sustainable allocation of risk between the client organisation and its supply base, conducting detailed market analysis to uncover commercial opportunities, and supporting the development and implementation of procurement strategies, operating models, and processes that maximise value, enhance performance, and deliver positive outcomes for the client, its stakeholders, and its customers.
Role Overview: As an Apprentice Procurement & Supply Chain Manager, depending on your previous experience and qualification levels you will spend 2 years working towards either a level 3 or level 4 Procurement & Supply Chain Practitioner apprenticeship while also gaining valuable work experience. Following completion, the firm will support you while working towards chartered membership of a professional body such as CIPS. The role will be varied, and the actual experience gained will be dependent on the team and sector you are working in. You will join the G&T apprenticeship programme for the first few years of your apprenticeship to ensure you can relate the theoretical aspects of your studies to actual work experience. Working within a team, you will be assisting your line manager with various aspects of daily project work. This role will be expected to work with a certain level of autonomy while also knowing when to discuss and ask questions to ensure the best outcome. You will be building a solid knowledge base of your role, the firm, and the industry, and how they all fit together.
General Responsibilities
* Support in the delivery of Commercial and Procurement advisory engagements
* Support in the delivery of Supply Chain and Supply Market Management initiatives to clients, leading on key aspects of the project such as data analysis, research and event co‑ordination.
* Assist the management of procurements through the procurement life‑cycle stages from identifying the business need to contract award drawing on internal and external resources as required;
* Manage the e‑procurement solution for specific categories/projects ensuring all projects are advertised sufficiently, information is correct and meets any transparency requirements and procurement legislation.
* Participate in team meetings for procurement, provide specialist guidance and enable the implementation of policy, projects and change initiatives.
* Provide monthly reports to the Procurement Manager which evidence successful delivery of projects.
* Assist in the development of Commercial Strategies, Procurement Strategies and Package Procurement Plans.
* Assist the compilation of Prequalification and Tendering documentation, such as Instructions to Tender and developing with functional specialists PQQ and ITT documents including scoring protocols.
* Assist the management of Prequalification and Tender evaluation processes.
* Assist in the management of governance process to facilitate clients making timely decisions regarding procurement strategy, shortlisting suppliers, and contract awards.
* Assist in providing advice on any applicable procurement legislation and developments, applicable policies and procurement routes; to ensure that all client activities comply with existing and future legal frameworks.
* Promote importance of procurement across business units and best practice through continuous improvement so that procurement processes are effective in delivering the clients objectives.
Required Qualifications & Skills
* A Level BBB (or equivalent) /128 UCAS tariff points (or an equivalents level of attainment through recognised qualifications)
* Must hold 5 GCSE’s A-C including Maths and English or equivalent (reformed GCSE grade 4 or above)
* Good working knowledge of current IT systems
