We have an exciting roadmap ahead for new products, services, production capacity and business expansion. As a result of this continued success, we are expanding our teams in Coalville. We currently have an opportunity for a Operations Manager supporting our Production and Quality team.
Operations Main Duties & Responsibilities:
* Ensure full Health, Safety and Environmental compliance throughout the company
* Institutionalise and lead best business practices through lean manufacturing thinking and The Terex Way
* Demonstrate good leadership skills to manage the Group Leaders, Production Supervisors, Managers and Team Members in process adherence.
* Performance Management of all Team Members in your area of responsibility
* Control and manage day to day production flow to deliver on time through level pull
* Control production costs and spend to within budget and assist in setting department budgets
* Be responsible for maintaining and improving the existing lean manufacturing production process
* Implement and coach Terex Business System initiatives and tools in all areas
* Manage and control working progress in all areas.
* Results focused with the energy, drive and commitment to make it happen.
* A practical understanding of lean manufacturing with ability to coach and practice Flow, Level Pull, TAKT adherence, JIT, Problem Solving, Continuous Improvement techniques, Visual Management and Synchronous Material Flow systems (PFEP, Kanban).
* Demonstrate a high degree of flexibility to accept and fulfil any other reasonable duties that may be required from time to time.
Quality Main Duties & Responsibilities:
* Lead the site Total Quality Management
* Lead a team of quality engineers and quality inspectors to deliver products in line with customer expectations.
* Ensure the communication strategy for the improvement and awareness of quality issues is maintained across all departments.
* Report as necessary on changes in standards (internally and externally initiated) and on performance against standards.
* Actively support New Product Development activities.
* Manage department performance against agreed targets through appraisal and review.
Essential Experience
* Ideally you should have previous production supervision experience gained within a manufacturing environment.
* Applicants should demonstrate previous manufacturing engineering and/or manufacturing systems experience.
* A practical understanding of lean manufacturing is also required.
* You will be expected to promote Business Process Excellence, Efficiency and Continuous Improvement and encourage a "One Team" mindset.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
* Excellent communication, planning and organisational skills
* People management/supervisory experience is essential
* Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
* Flexibility and ability to work in an environment that is fluid with constantly changing priorities
* Knowledge of inventory control, lean manufacturing, takt time and continuous improvement
* Ability to learn quickly, use your initiative and work as part of a team
* Strong analytical skills and attention to detail is essential for success in this role
* A logical and methodical approach to problem solving along with the ability to complete tasks in a timely manner to meet targets
* Ability to govern progress to a detailed level and interpret system reports to bring about change as necessary
* Self-motivation and initiative
* IT literacy and experience of MRP style system
