Overview
Founded in 1988 by Paul Newman, The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp provides "a different kind of healing" to thousands of children with serious illnesses and their families annually - all completely free of charge. For many of these children and families, Hole in the Wall provides multiple Camp experiences throughout the year at the facility in Ashford, Conn, in dozens of hospitals and clinics, directly in camper homes and communities and through other outreach activities across the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic.
Position Description
Responsible for the oversight of Housekeeping workload schedule and ensuring the cleanliness of all Hole in the Wall Gang Camp buildings.
Our Lead Housekeeper can expect to...
* Create a work schedule and assign tasks for housekeeping staff.
* Train, supervise and monitor the quality of work of assistant housekeepers as well as summer staff.
* Inventory, order, and stock all janitorial supplies and linens. Work with suppliers to reduce costs via bulk orders.
* Clean and maintain all buildings.
* Respond to the electronic linen and supplies requests in a timely manner.
* Ensure all assigned buildings are stocked with janitorial supplies, as well as linen (where needed).
* Through positive leadership, demonstrate the core values of the organization.
* Respond to assigned tasks as outlined in the electronic facilities request page.
* Assist with special projects and perform additional duties as assigned.
* Coordinate with outside laundry service to ensure prompt pickup. Communicate camp schedules to laundry service.
* Monitor trash and recycling and coordinate pickups with waste vendor. Communicate camp schedules to the vendor.
* Monitor bottled water inventory and coordinate deliveries with supplier to maintain inventory. Communicate camp schedules to the supplier.
Our Lead Housekeeper should have...
* Experience coordinating with outside vendors.
* The ability to establish positive relationships with a variety of people in multicultural environments.
* The ability to multi-task and prioritize workday/projects independently.
* Knowledge of computers.
* The ability to develop work schedules and assign tasks as appropriate.
* The ability to communicate clearly with Facility Director and other team members.
* The ability to reach, bend, and stoop; and frequently lift up to 25 pounds.
* The capacity to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 9 hours).
* The ability to work extended hours, including evenings and weekends and on-call hours as needed.
* A valid Driver's license and driving record which meets HITWG insurance carrier requirements. Ability to travel to assigned worksites.
