DS Smith in Featherstone has an exciting opportunity for a Team Leader – Loading Bay to join the high-performing Operations team at the site.
Reporting to the Shift Manager, the Loading Bay Team Leader will be responsible for driving performance on shift, ensuring that all crews are fully aware of and meet the goals and targets set for them in line with site and business KPI’s, whilst identifying skills gaps and acting to address these as required.
They will also be required to operate as part of the shift team as and when required.
The site operates a 24/7 operation with rotating shift patterns. 2 x 12 hour days and 2 x 12 hour nights; this is repeated on 7 cycles. There is then an 18 day break. Please note holidays are incorporated into the shift pattern.
Key Accountabilities of this role include:
1. Being responsible for working to Company HSER standards through the use of all Leadership in Action tools
2. Working as an active leader and working member of the shift team
3. Providing clear leadership by ensuring that crews are fully aware of and meet the targets set, supporting the delivery and escalating any challenges that cannot be addressed to the Shift Manager
4. Playing an active role in the delivery of KPI’s, notably Safety, OTIF, waste, quality, OEE, complaints and DPPM analysis.
5. Helping to identify engineering requirements and work in close liaison with Engineering on shift to resolve issues.
6. Responsible for driving productivity on shift through effective monitoring of process performance to ensure the production plan can be delivered
7. Ensuring that the maintenance and cleaning tasks in the Loading Bay are carried out to the plan and the required standard.
8. Work closely with Shift Manager to develop and coach the team. Supporting the development and training to maximise output
9. To ensure a professional line is presented at all times, adhering to site standards and housekeeping.
10. Training to be able to cover all areas of the department during busy periods and absence.
About you:
11. Experience working as a Team Leader or Supervisor, managing and coaching team members.
12. Experience of working with and operating industrial machinery
13. Experience working within a manufacturing environment
14. Working knowledge of good health and safety practices
15. Proven experience of working towards KPI’s and deadlines within a fast-paced environment
16. Effective communication skills; both written and verbally
17. Excellent attention to detail
18. The ability to make informed decisions
19. Confident in communicating at all levels
20. Current FLT license
