Role Overview:
The Piping Design Engineer will support field design activities within the piping discipline. The role involves interfacing with various disciplines and resolving piping engineering issues during on-site installation. Main tasks include:
* Gathering input data, analyzing hypotheses, and preparing loading descriptions
* Engaging with stakeholders such as installation contractors and other disciplines
* Performing mechanical stress analyses, including piping flexibility and support calculations
* Proposing modifications when sizing criteria are not met
* Closing open points and comments
* Assessing and integrating stakeholder modifications post-package handover
* Conducting hand calculations and running macros to evaluate modifications
* Reviewing calculation notes and guide drawings from external subcontractors
* Maintaining QA procedures in design delivery
* Collaborating with CAD designers and detailers on drawing preparation
Key Relationships:
The employee will interact closely with the discipline manager and stakeholders to ensure site queries are resolved in line with project milestones.
Requirements:
Essential Qualifications, Experience, and Skills:
* Master's degree in Science or Mechanical Engineering
* Minimum 2 years' experience in piping mechanical design, nuclear industry, or equivalent
* Knowledge of Eurocode, ASME, and RCC-M codes
* Understanding of piping design stages: detailed, execution, manufacturing, installation, and commissioning
* Proficiency with 2D and 3D design software: PDMS, Navisworks, Pipe stress, RSTAB, ANSYS SPDL, and WORKBENCH
* Experience with piping and support calculation tools
* Experience working in multicultural environments
* Curiosity and motivation to learn
Desirable Qualifications, Experience, and Skills:
* Knowledge of the HPC project or EPR studies
* Understanding of nuclear engineering and building NI, CI, & BoP facilities
* Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills in English
* Ability to meet deadlines and commitments
