Mechanical Maintenance And Operations
* Carry out mechanical repairs, fault‑finding and diagnostics across plant equipment
* Deliver planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and routine inspections
* Support optimal plant performance through monitoring, adjustment and system checks
* Respond to steam outages, service interruptions and emergency call‑outs
* Provide periodic remote monitoring while on‑call
* Work closely with the client’s on‑site teams to coordinate maintenance activities
Compliance And Reporting
* Perform statutory checks, testing and maintenance in line with steam system, LTHW, combustion and fuel management regulations
* Monitor feed water and emissions to ensure environmental compliance
* Maintain detailed, audit‑ready maintenance records using MMS and HSEQ systems
* Accurately document inspections, downtime, parts used and corrective actions, including photographic evidence where required
* Support audits, risk assessments and incident reporting
HSEQ And Site Standards
* Champion a strong safety culture aligned with AMP policies and legislation
* Escalate HSEQ concerns promptly
* Support contractor management and permit‑to‑work systems
* Maintain high standards of housekeeping and site organisation
* Manage tools and critical spare parts to ensure operational readiness and efficiency
What we are looking for
We’re looking for a proactive and skilled engineer with a solid foundation in engineering and hands‑on mechanical expertise. You’ll thrive in a safety‑critical environment, confidently tackling maintenance, diagnostics, and repair tasks to keep operations running smoothly and safely.
Essential
* Mechanical Engineering qualification (City & Guilds, HNC, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent)
* Strong practical experience in mechanical maintenance and fault diagnosis
* Experience working with steam systems, pumps, valves and associated plant
* Biomass boiler experience (operation and maintenance)
* Strong understanding of HSEQ standards and safe systems of work
* Proactive and methodical problem‑solving skills
* Confident working independently and as part of a team
* Flexible approach to on‑call and operational requirements
* Clear and accurate record‑keeping skills
Desirable
* BOAS Steam Operator qualification (or willingness to work towards)
* Experience using maintenance management and plant control systems (e.g. CMMS, DCS or BMS)

Location: Muntons, Stowmarket, IP14 2AG
Competitive Salary: To be discussed at interview
Quarterly Engineer Incentive Bonus: Earn up to £2,000 per year (up to £500 per quarter)
Hours of Work: Average of 40 paid hours per week (excluding breaks)
Contract Type: Permanent.
The site operates 7 days a week (8am to 5pm), so the role will require weekend working, and out of hours on‑call on a rota/shift pattern.
Candidates must live within 45 minutes of site to support on‑call response
Working Pattern
* Average 40 paid hours per week (annualised hours: 2,080)
* Standard hours: 08:00-17:00 (1-hour unpaid break)
* Weekend working required
* On‑call rota including remote performance monitoring
Example Shift Pattern
Week 1: Mon-Sun, 08:00-17:00
Week 2: Wed-Fri, 08:00-17:00
Week 3: Mon-Fri, 08:00-17:00
Call-out Payments
Minimum 4-hour payment per call‑out.
Time and a half (weekdays & Saturdays)
Double time (Sundays)
