Strategic Lead for Highway Maintenance & Operation ?to drive forward our ambitious plans for a modern, resilient highways network that meets the needs of residents, businesses, and future generations. Whats the role all about? This is more than just managing roadsits about shaping the backbone of our borough. Youll lead a multi-disciplinary team covering street lighting, drainage, structures, flood risk, and more. Youll champion safety, innovation, and value for money, ensuring our highways are maintained to the highest standards. Youll work closely with local communities, elected members, and regional partners to identify priorities, secure investment, and deliver real outcomes. Whether its developing a new asset strategy or responding to complex infrastructure challenges, youll be at the forefront of change. What will your day look like? Leading a team of engineers and technical experts to deliver core highway services. Building strong relationships with stakeholders and partners to unlock funding and drive innovation. Overseeing complex maintenance programmes and ensuring compliance with legislation and best practice. Championing a place-based approach that reflects the needs and aspirations of our communities. Who are we looking for? Youre a strategic thinker with deep experience in highways operations and asset management. Youve led high-performing teams, navigated complex challenges, and delivered results in a local authority or similar setting. Youre confident, collaborative, and committed to continuous improvement.
