Context
We are expanding our Water teams in the UK to meet a strong workload on high-profile infrastructure projects. We seek an experienced Water Engineer to strengthen our UK Water Resources team, primarily working on Rainwater Management and SuDS projects. This is an exciting growth phase for SYSTRA Ltd as we enhance our presence in the UK.
Main Duties
* Design rainwater management, SuDS, river, and watercourse infrastructure solutions, including flood defenses, river restoration, and hydraulic structures.
* Conduct hydraulic modeling and flood risk assessments using TUFLOW, HEC-RAS, or Flood Modeller.
* Collaborate with BIM teams to develop 3D models of designs.
* Develop sustainable, climate-resilient solutions, ensuring compliance with water and environmental regulations.
* Work with ecological consultants to assess project impacts on habitats and biodiversity.
* Contribute to Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) and environmental permitting.
* Coordinate with clients and project engineers to understand and deliver project requirements.
* Manage packages of water and river engineering design work, fostering innovative, cost-effective solutions.
* Implement environmentally sustainable designs, adhering to health, safety, and environmental legislation.
* Maintain high standards of quality assurance and control.
* Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental legislation, including CDM 2015.
* Manage project communications and support senior management as needed.
Profile/Skills
* Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Water, Rivers, Civil Engineering, or related fields.
* HNC/HND in Rivers-related fields with significant experience in Water Catchment Management.
* Proven experience in the Water Sector with Rainwater Management, Rivers, or SuDS projects.
Professional Memberships
* Commitment to achieving Chartered Water Manager or Chartered Environmentalist status, if not already obtained.
Software Skills
Essential: Advanced proficiency in hydrology, hydraulic modeling, BIM, or CAD software.
Technical Knowledge
* Strong understanding of Rainwater Management and/or SuDS principles.
* Experience with attenuation systems like rain gardens, bio-retention, wetlands, ponds, swales.
* Knowledge of hydraulic modeling, relevant standards (BS, ISO), and guidelines such as Sewers for Adoption.
* Understanding of CDM 2015 responsibilities.
