We are currently recruiting for a dedicated SEMH Teaching Support Assistant to join a lovely Primary School in Slough. There are multiple opportunities available, with the potential for roles to become permanent for the right candidates.
About the School
This welcoming specialist secondary school provides a supportive and inclusive environment for 11-16 year old students with additional needs. The school places a strong focus on pastoral care, ensuring students feel safe, understood and supported throughout their education journey.
With a committed staff team and a strong behaviour support approach, the school promotes consistency, structure and positive relationship building. Staff work closely together to support pupils both academically and emotionally, helping them to re-engage with learning and build confidence.
The Role
As a SEMH Teaching Support Assistant, you will:
1. Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEMH needs
2. Support students with emotional regulation and engagement in lessons
3. Act as a positive role model, encouraging confidence and resilience
4. Help manage and de-escalate challenging behaviour
5. Support pupils during lessons, transitions and break times
6. Work closely with teaching staff and pastoral teams
The Ideal Candidate
7. Experience working with young people with SEMH or behavioural needs
8. Confident, proactive and not afraid to get stuck in
9. Calm and resilient, with the ability to build strong relationships
10. Understanding of behaviour management strategies
11. Passionate about supporting vulnerable young people
12. Team Teach or similar training is desirable but not essential.
