Role / Job Title: Power Doors Mechatronics Engineer Work Location: Gaydon / Whitley, UK (Onsite) Must-Have: Proven experience in body systems, especially glazing, sealing, and exterior finishers.
Familiarity with automotive development tools such as CAD software (CATIA V5/V6) and requirements management tools (e.g., DOORs).
Strong knowledge of automotive product development processes, such as Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA).
Familiarity with global regulatory standards for glass and sealing systems.
A degree in a relevant engineering discipline, such as Mechanical, Automobile, or Manufacturing, is typically required.
Excellent project management, communication, and interpersonal skills. The ability to influence stakeholders and drive progress in a team environment is essential.
Good-to-Have: Working knowledge of JIRA; self-motivated and able to work effectively in a team environment.
Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence design decisions.
Experience supporting manufacturing and launch issues.
Understanding and previous experience in Agile working mindsets focused within a Scrum methodology.
Responsibilities / Expectations from the Role: Lead the quality strategy for glass, seals, and finishers across new and existing vehicle programs.
Define and implement robust quality standards and test plans to meet durability, fit-and-finish, and water management targets.
Collaborate with design engineers to ensure manufacturability and quality are embedded from concept through launch.
Drive CAD reviews, boundary diagrams, and interface definitions to avoid downstream issues.
Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for quality concerns during development and post-launch.
Use tools like FMEA, 8D, and Evidence-Based Engineering to resolve issues and prevent recurrence.
Interface with Manufacturing, Supplier Quality, Vehicle Engineering, and Program teams to ensure seamless delivery.
Support supplier development and quality audits for critical components.
Oversee DV (Design Verification) and PV (Production Verification) activities for assigned components.
Ensure timely completion of APQP deliverables and Engineering Release milestones.
