Fire & Security Technician role at City Building Engineering Services (CBES)
This role requires acting as the technical specialist for designated stores, undertaking first call response to Fire, CCTV, EAS, Access Control, PA, and Automatic Pedestrian Gates.
Key Responsibilities
* Undertake maintenance and repairs in accordance with KPI’s set by the customer, including response, repair, first fix, and closure.
* Ensure all planned, reactive and statutory works designated to a CCTV engineer are carried out in accordance with contractual obligations as set out in the City FM Bookcase.
* Complete PPM works within agreed timescales and ensure all necessary paperwork is completed accurately and to laid-down procedures and standards.
* Respond promptly to service call requests from the Helpdesk during normal hours; out of hours will be referred to the specialist in the first instance.
* Identify non-repairable faults in equipment and propose corrective action.
* Order parts as required in line with Company Procedures, ensure prompt fitment on delivery, and chase outstanding parts not delivered within 5 days.
* Fully complete all paperwork required by the Company to measure performance of service and undertake surveys as requested.
* Meet and communicate regularly with the Duty Manager on every store visit to advise on repair and maintenance issues likely to affect store operations.
* Ensure all tools and equipment necessary to complete maintenance and repairs are available and serviceable at all times.
* Carry out required Fire PPM visits to BS5839 and ensure Fire alarm systems are in compliance with BS 5839; report defects as necessary.
* Maintain proficiency in written and verbal communication, report writing and recording procedures.
* Be aware of regulations and codes of practice applicable to the tasks.
* Notify the company helpdesk of procedural task conditions on cessation of works.
* Carry out surveys and complete reports as required by the supervisor / technical specialist.
* Work to the highest standards in an efficient and cost-effective manner, while complying with the Company Health and Safety policy.
* Attend training courses as required and ensure personal job skills keep pace with technical and business developments.
* Ensure all mandatory Evolve online training modules are completed.
* Comply with the Health and Safety at Work Act and the company’s Health and Safety Policy at all times.
* Collaborate with City and ASDA colleagues to maintain laid-down standards of quality at all times and represent the company professionally.
* Comply with any other reasonable request or instruction from the City Management Team.
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
* GCSE standard
* Electrical Competency Qualification (NVQ/City & Guilds)
* CCTV IP/analogue systems
* Fire alarm systems
* PC literate
* Ability to maintain and repair a range of Fire, CCTV products and specific EAS systems (Sensormatic)
* Ability to work with minimum supervision
* Good communication skills (written and verbal)

* IPAF licence holder
* Competent in the use of steps and ladders
* Current driving licence
