Marketing and Communications Manager Department Sports Development & Recreation Salary Starting from £38,784, rising to £46,049 Closing date Wednesday 18 March 2026 As Marketing and Communications Manager in the Department of Sports Development & Recreation (DSDR), youll be pivotal in maximising profile, awareness and engagement for sport, fitness and well-being facilities, activities and services at the University of Bath. Its a broad but exciting role to help the department unleash the power of sport for all of its stakeholder groups. About us The Department of Sports Development and Recreation seeks to create impact through sport by maximising its unique environment every day for every customer. The Department manages and organises a range of activities under the Universitys sports brand - Team Bath - and aspires to create a world-leading multi-sport environment delivering to elite athletes, staff and students of the University and the local and regional community. Based in the inspiring £35m Sports Training Village, the Department offers a wide range of high-quality sports activities, programmes, events, services and facilities catering for all ages and abilities. In addition, we are recognised by UK Sport as one of only eight Elite Centres, providing the training base for around 250 international level athletes. This is an opportunity to become part of a professional and progressive organisation at the leading edge of sport, health and fitness. This is an exciting opportunity to promote a variety of strands in a diverse environment, targeting multiple audiences and age-groups, including the Universitys staff and students, the public, community and elite sports organisations, coupled with high-profile events. This means youll be promoting everything from Olympians and Paralympians across several sports to those taking their first steps in sport. About you Ideally, you will have experience of managing staff in a marketing and communications environment with demonstrable evidence of contributing to the development of marketing and communications strategies, particularly to enable future commercial success. It would be favourable if you have competence in general marketing skills, including social media, graphics creation (using software such as Photoshop) and creating web content. You must have good written skills to help with press content and associated PR initiatives. You will: - develop and deliver effective marketing plans and campaigns that drive sales across the Department-wide range of commercial activities. - lead the DSDR marketing team in the implementation of its marketing and communications activities, including internal and external communications, brand development and management, all media activities across a wide range of platforms, sponsorship and general marketing. Good planning skills are imperative to help organise the various marketing initiatives across the breadth of the business. Equally, good time management skills and the ability to prioritise are inherently essential.
