Job Summary

Clinical Support Workers – 54.5 hours available, full or part time. We are looking to recruit a Clinical Support Worker for Ward 4 at West Cumberland Hospital. The role is part of an enthusiastic multidisciplinary team providing holistic care for elderly patients in a 32‑bed Acute Care ward. You should be caring, dedicated, innovative and motivated.

Pay & Conditions

Pay scheme: Agenda for Change, Band 3. Salary: £24,937 to £26,598 per annum (pro rata). Contract: Permanent. Working pattern: Full‑time or Part‑time.

Immigration and Sponsorship

Due to UK immigration changes, individuals requiring a Health and Care Visa or Skilled Worker Visa may not be eligible for sponsorship if the salary threshold is not met or if the occupation is not on the updated Immigration Salary List. Applicants must check eligibility before applying. Those not meeting criteria will not progress.


Disclosure and Barring Service

All applicants must submit a DBS check (Rehabilitation of Offenders Act, 1975). DBS costs are deducted from salary over a four‑month period or one‑off: Standard £27.40, Enhanced £55.40.

Person Specification


Qualifications (Essential)

* Level 3 vocational qualification or short courses and completion of a competency workbook equivalent to Level 3 in patient and clinical care duties, or equivalent knowledge and experience; knowledge of data protection and health and safety legislation.
* National Care Certificate, or commitment to complete within 12 weeks of commencing employment.
* Numeracy and Literacy Level 2.


Qualifications (Desirable)

* Relevant additional training for Clinical Support Workers.


Knowledge and Experience (Essential)

* Experience of working in health or social care.
* Experience of undertaking and recording clinical observations and escalating changes or findings.
* Working knowledge of legislation underpinning care provision.
* Understanding of robust, accurate, clear, timely documentation.
* Insight into carer behaviours and the need for effective teamwork.
* Knowledge of safeguarding.
* Understanding of work‑related boundaries.
* Awareness of GDPR and confidentiality.


Knowledge and Experience (Desirable)

* Familiarity with current NHS and social care policies.
* Computer skills.
* Knowledge of clinical policies and procedures.
* Evidence of understanding of Trust business.
* Experience working in the Trust previously.
