Position: Care & Nursing home Chefs and Cooks
Tired of the stress of a fast-paced demanding kitchen? Then why not come and cook for people who really appreciate good home cooked meals. We're looking for relief chefs to support care home kitchens throughout Nottingham, bringing flavor and ensuring mealtimes are comforting, calm, and delicious.
The Role
1. Cooking tasty, nutritious meals, including a variety of diets such as texture diets, blended meals, and modified meals.
2. Catering for dietary needs under the IDDSI framework.
3. Maintaining kitchen cleanliness and organization.
4. Working solo or with a small team, depending on the home.
5. Managing stock and deliveries.
6. Handling food orders, depending on your role (e.g., head chef/chef manager).
7. Preparing food.
8. Supporting with pot washing and assisting kitchen staff as needed.
9. Adhering to health and safety regulations.
10. Cooking nutritious food within specified requirements.
11. Following a 'clean as you go' policy.
12. Possibly serving food.
Qualifications and Skills
1. Previous experience as a chef in care or nursing homes.
2. Understanding of pureed meals and their impact on residents.
3. Experience with the IDDSI framework for texture diets.
4. Ability to work efficiently under pressure.
5. Food Hygiene certificate at level 2 or above (recent or willing to obtain).
6. Friendly, calm demeanor, passionate about home-cooked meals.
7. Reliable, proactive, and capable of completing tasks independently.
8. Availability for temporary/relief shifts, including same-day sickness cover.
9. Flexible regarding shifts, including weekends.
10. Good communication and teamwork skills.
11. Full UK driving license and access to a vehicle (if required for locations).
12. Enhanced Adult DBS within the last 12 months or on the update service, or willingness to obtain one (we can facilitate this at a cost).

We work with various catering providers across Nottingham & The East Midlands, offering diverse work environments.
Working Hours
You can choose your weekly rota. Shifts typically range from 6/7 am to 6/7 pm, depending on the site, with options for full-time, part-time, and weekends.
The Commute
Locations vary across Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent. We prioritize placements accessible by public transport and will provide all necessary travel information.
Working Environments
Sites include contract catering, hotels, restaurants, pubs, cafes, prisons, schools, nurseries, care homes, golf clubs, and event venues. We aim to place you in environments that suit your experience and preferences.
