General Practitioner – The Rogerstone Practice

Job Summary
A vacancy has arisen within our practice to cover a 7‑month maternity leave. We are recruiting a locum GP to join the team from 28 January 2026 until 28 August 2026. The role requires 6 sessions a week on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, with a 50‑50 split between routine and unscheduled care sessions.
About the Practice
We are a friendly, supportive, well‑organised practice in Rogerstone, 15‑min commute from Cardiff. We have a strong team ethos, meet daily before surgery starts and at lunch, and value a balance between patient care and staff wellbeing.
* 7‑partner GP practice with a highly organised administrative and nursing team, including a prescribing pharmacist
* GP training practice for ST1/2/3 and 5th year medical students
* Patient list size 13 300, low home‑visit rate
* High achieving practice maximising income streams with a range of enhanced services
* EMIS practice system
Responsibilities
• Provide general medical services to patients of The Rogerstone Practice, including face‑to‑face, telephone consultations and home visits.
• Undertake on‑call duties and participate in the rota system.
• Work closely with other clinical, medical professional and managerial colleagues to deliver high‑quality care.
• Maintain clinical service to contract and NHS standards, ensuring adherence to NICE and Health Board guidelines.
Qualifications & Requirements
* Registered with GMC
* On the Wales Medical Performers list (or equivalent)
* Experience in a GP setting is desirable but not mandatory
* Good communication skills, ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
* Competence with EMIS or willingness to learn
Contract & Working Pattern
• Fixed‑term 7‑month contract
• Part‑time, 6 sessions per week (Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday)
• Salary available upon request
