Position:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Team Leader within our CAMHS Urgent Assessment and Intensive Treatment team (CUAIT) based at Lister street, Crosshouse Hospital.

At our Urgent Assessment & Intensive Treatment Team, we aim to deliver excellent care and support by offering an efficient and effective service supporting young people where and when they need it.

CUAIT provide comprehensive and systemic mental health assessment for young people up to the age of 18, who present in crisis and form part of the wider NHS Ayrshire and Arran CAMHS service.

The team will work alongside the Multidisciplinary Community CAMHS and CAMHS Neuro teams to provide a seamless service whilst maintaining close links with Paediatric Inpatient Service, Skye House (adolescent inpatient), Woodland View (AMH hospital) and Foxgrove (National Secure Adolescent Inpatient Service) to facilitate admission and discharge from inpatient services.

NHS Ayrshire and Arran CAMHS provide a specialist mental health service for children and young people age 5 – 18 years presenting with a range of mental health conditions and development disorders. If you have a genuine interest in working within CAMHS then this is an excellent opportunity to join a forward thinking dynamic multidisciplinary team. We are inviting applicants with a first level clinical professional qualification for the Band 7 Unscheduled CAMHS Team Leader role to be part of an innovative service and we areoffering theopportunity to shape the delivery of crisis and intensive community treatment for the young people and their families within Ayrshire and Arran.

Hours and Shift Pattern:

37 Hours as per Reduced Working Week

This post is offered on a fixed term/secondment basis until September 2026

What you will do:

You will work closely with the Community CAMHS, Community Eating Disorder and CAMHS Neuro team leaders collaborating on treatment pathways ensuring pathways meet the needs of the children and young people accessing the service and contribute to and lead on service redesign and operational policy applicable to your area. Liaison and contribution to multi-agency discussion is required in this role to support the clinical team providing treatment to children and young people with complex needs and in establishing bespoke collaborative support to meet needs.

You will also provide line management supervision to the band 6 nursing team and support staff utilising One for Scotland policy.

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

You should have evidence of significant post registration professional practice and experience at band 6 level or above with a first level RMN or RNLD qualification, in CAMHS or Unscheduled Mental Health to undertake and fulfil the key areas for this post. We are looking for candidates who are enthusiastic, motivated and committed to leading a team who provide treatment to young people who may have multiple and complex needs. You must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills and have experience in risk assessment and risk management and leadership experience.

You should have knowledge of mental health legislation, Child protection process, GIRFEC, One for Scotland policy and the CAMHS Specification.

You will be supported by the Interim Service Manager for CAMHS in undertaking this role.
