About the Role
The Vision Support Team has an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and committed Qualified Teacher of the Visually Impaired. We welcome applications from Qualified Teachers of the Visually Impaired with the PGDip/MA Mandatory Qualification for Teachers of Children and Young People with Visual Impairment or SEND experience and a commitment to completing the qualification within three years of appointment.
The Vision Support Service is made up of Qualified Teachers of the Visually Impaired (QTVIs), Resource Technicians, Assistive Technology Specialists, and Practitioners.
The successful applicant will manage a caseload of visually impaired children in various settings including mainstream and special schools, nurseries, and family homes in Leicestershire. The role involves assessment, direct teaching of braille, supporting children, and building visual awareness, knowledge, skills, and understanding through advice, support, and training to families, schools, early years settings, and colleges.
A DBS enhanced check is required for this position.

About You
To apply, you must:
* Hold a degree and Qualified Teacher Status, with mandatory qualification in teaching visually impaired children or further training in SEND. The successful candidate will undertake two-year training to gain the mandatory qualification if not already qualified.
* Have excellent interpersonal skills to relate positively to students, parents, and professionals.
* Have substantial experience working directly with visually impaired children in various settings.
* Possess knowledge of children with visual impairments/SEND and their families, including assessments, strategies, and resources.
* Have experience with tactile mediums like braille and assistive technology.
* Follow relevant policies and procedures for SEND, safeguarding, and equality.
* Demonstrate the values of positivity, trust, respect, flexibility, openness, and transparency.
