Quality Control Technician
Location: Portsmouth, Hampshire
Salary: £29,000 – £35,000 (depending on experience)
Hours: 36 hours per week, Monday – Thursday (06:30 – 16:00)
Holiday: 5 weeks per annum

The Role
Do you have experience inspecting CNC machined parts, or are you an experienced Inspector looking for your next challenge?
Our client is seeking a Quality Control Technician to join their dedicated team. You’ll be responsible for performing dimensional inspections on both in-house manufactured and sub-contracted precision components, ensuring that every part meets their exacting standards.
This is a hands-on position within a machine shop environment, working directly from engineering drawings and using a range of precision measuring tools. You’ll collaborate with production and engineering teams to identify issues, suggest improvements, and ensure continuous quality excellence.
Key Responsibilities
* Inspect precision CNC machined components and assemblies.
* Interpret and work from detailed engineering drawings.
* Use a range of hand measuring equipment accurately and efficiently.
* Collaborate with engineers, machinists, and management to resolve quality issues.
* Support the implementation of quality control systems and standards.
* Assist in root cause analysis, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
* Monitor, record, and report quality performance (SPC / Six Sigma principles).
* Liaise with suppliers and customers regarding quality-related matters.
* Review NCR data, specifications, and quality documentation.
Skills & Experience
* Previous experience inspecting CNC machined components is essential.
* Strong understanding of engineering drawings.
* Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
* A team player with ambition, drive, and attention to detail.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
* Experience with CMM inspection (MITUTOYO mcosmos programming) is advantageous.
* Previous involvement in developing and implementing quality standards is beneficial.
