An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our multi‑discipline ophthalmology team, working in close collaboration with supportive colleagues.
The appointee will have a principle interest in Oculoplastics and participation in the eye casualty department is essential.

Responsibilities
* Maintenance of the highest clinical standards in the management of patients with a wide variety of ophthalmic conditions
* Responsibility for the day‑to‑day management of ophthalmology patients and sharing with colleagues
* Teaching and training of junior staff, medical students, postgraduates, and other healthcare personnel
* Active participation in departmental and Trust matters concerning Clinical Governance and audit
* Ensuring active participation in continuing medical education/professional and service development (CME/CPD)
* Supporting the emergency eye department and acting as a point of escalation for senior consultant advice
* Providing consultant ophthalmology services at the Trust, including outpatient clinics and procedures at York, Scarborough, Malton, and Bridlington
* Working flexibly with other consultant ophthalmologists to maximise utilisation of outpatient procedure lists and clinics
* Ensuring good standards of practice and care as described in GMC Guidance, reporting bad practice
* Ensuring clinical practice is effective, efficient, and appropriately monitored; actively participating in audit
* Providing ongoing responsibility for patient care and proper organisation of clinical practice
* Working closely with other specialties, departments, and outside agencies to deliver departmental objectives
* Reporting critical clinical incidents in a timely manner
* Participating in yearly appraisal and job planning process
* Undertaking mandatory and statutory training as determined by the Trust
* Supporting allied health professionals and the nursing team in development and teaching
Qualifications & Expectations
* Maintain CPD to revalidate; complete annual appraisal and statutory training as stipulated
* Complete Trust corporate and directorate‑specific induction and competency programmes appropriate to the role
* Provide consultant ophthalmology services and support the emergency department
