The Medical Engineering (EBME) Team supports all users of medical equipment in the acute and community hospitals within the Health Board, ensuring equipment safety and optimal performance to protect both users and patients.
Previous experience with medical equipment is desirable but not essential. However, extensive experience in repairing and maintaining complex electronic equipment is required. Support and training are provided to foster excellent career development. The successful candidate will undergo annual appraisals and opportunities for skill enhancement.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will provide technical support for a wide range of medical equipment throughout the East region of BCULHB.
Duties include:
1. Repair, calibration, planned maintenance, and commissioning of medical equipment.
2. Providing advice and support to users regarding device functions and maintenance.
3. Assisting in evaluating maintenance needs, investigating incidents, and testing equipment.
4. Requisitioning spares and materials, accepting deliveries, and managing equipment bookings following set procedures.
5. Keeping up-to-date with technical developments.
6. Having a flexible approach to working hours to meet service needs.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable; applications from Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Degree-level professional electronics knowledge or HNC/HND plus relevant training and experience. Equivalent experience in electronics is acceptable.
* Completion of an electronics-based apprenticeship.
Experience
* Fault diagnosis and repair of electronic instrumentation in industrial or medical settings.
* Knowledge of ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems.
* Understanding of health and safety legislation.
* Experience working in a clinical environment.
* Experience mentoring trainees or students.
Disclosure and Barring Service Check
This role requires a DBS check under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975, with disclosures made to the DBS to check for any criminal convictions.
