Robert Half is partnering with a well established manufacturing business based in Halifax to appoint a Managing Director. The Role
As Managing Director, you will take full accountability for the leadership and direction of the business. You will shape long term strategy, oversee all core functions, and act as the senior executive voice of the organisation.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Setting the strategic direction and leading the long term growth plan.
2. Embedding best practice, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
3. Leading the sales and commercial function, driving growth across domestic and international markets.
4. Acting as a visible, customer facing leader, building strong relationships with key accounts and industry partners.
5. Oversight of operations, R&D, finance, and sales ensuring collaboration against shared strategic goals.
6. Executive ownership of health & safety, compliance, risk, and governance.
7. Leading, mentoring, and developing the senior leadership team.
8. Building a high performance culture with the right structure, talent, and capability for future growth.
The Candidate
We're looking for an experienced manufacturing Managing Director with a strong blend of commercial and operational expertise.
Requirements:
9. Background in manufacturing or distribution, with an understanding of production environments.
10. Strong leadership capability - able to inspire teams and drive organisational performance.
11. Proven commercial acumen across customer management, pricing, margins, and strategic sales.
12. Ability to set and execute long range plans with clarity and focus.
13. Depth of operational understanding: manufacturing, quality, H&S, and continuous improvement.
14. A hands on, practical approach to leadership.
15. A track record of improving sales performance within an established business.
