Rate of Pay: £14.50 - £18.22 per hour
Summary:
The Revenues Officer supports both the Revenues Service and the Welfare & Benefits Service within North Yorkshire Council. The role ensures the accurate and efficient administration of Council Tax, Business Rates, Business Improvement District (BID) levies, Housing Benefit, and Council Tax Support schemes in line with legislation, local policies, and best practice.
The post holder is responsible for the day-to-day delivery and control of system-based and batch processes that underpin the administration of revenues and benefits, ensuring data accuracy, compliance, and resilience of key operations.
This position plays a vital role in maintaining the financial integrity of the Councils revenue systems, supporting continuous improvement, and upholding a high standard of customer-focused service.
Responsibilities:
* Set up, monitor, and verify day-to-day revenues and benefits processing jobs, ensuring outputs are completed correctly and on schedule.
* Follow and maintain robust, documented procedures for all critical business processes to ensure accuracy, reliability, and resilience.
* Ensure compliance with contingency and disaster recovery protocols established by the Revenues & Benefits Control Manager and Senior Control Officers.
* Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal colleagues, external partners, software suppliers, and system support teams.
* Use and maintain key IT systems such as specialist Revenues databases, document imaging software, telephony systems, web payment platforms, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word), and reporting tools (e.g., Business Objects).
Requirements:
* Knowledge of legislation, regulations, and best practice related to revenues and/or benefits administration.
* Understanding of confidentiality requirements and data protection legislation, particularly the Data Protection Act.
* Experience using technology and software packages in a data or process-driven environment.
