Clinical Practice Facilitator, Theatres - Part Time 19hrs per week at Tabasco Event. This is a 50:50 dual role, based in clinical practice and with the learning & development team, with a strong emphasis on the clinical element. The role may involve work across Trust sites.
Job Summary
We are seeking an exceptional and experienced practitioner, preferably with a dual role (anaesthetic and scrub) and a passion for sharing knowledge through teaching to join our theatres professional development team.
This role involves supporting trainee nursing associates, learners preparing for the UK NMC OSCE, undergraduate students, and newly qualified practitioners undertaking their preceptorship program. You will be expected to demonstrate strong leadership, act as a role model, and provide specialist clinical support while developing in a leadership capacity, including deputising in the absence of seniors.
Key duties include teaching and learning opportunities for all staff, working clinically alongside trained staff and students, supporting staff on action plans related to clinical competence, coordinating mandatory training, and working with Theatre Leaders to maximise effective use of staff, supplies and services.
The post holder may be required to work across Trust sites.
Responsibilities
* Provide regular teaching and learning opportunities for staff, both in induction and on the Trust clinical skills days (including medicines management and preceptorship).
* Develop skills in delivering training and supporting work streams with a clinical practice educator.
* Provide education and support as preceptors for students and new staff; monitor objectives and carry out competency assessments.
* Coordinate clinical placements for undergraduate and postgraduate students and maintain accurate attendance records for reporting.
* Ensure excellent communication with all clinical placements stakeholders.
* Maintain personal responsibility for continuous professional development and safe work practices.
* Demonstrate leadership and supervision of others; deputise for team leaders in their absence.
Qualifications and Experience
* Essential: Registered Nurse or ODP; relevant teaching/mentoring qualification or equivalent experience (ENB 998, Practice supervisor, mentorship module); first-level degree or equivalent; recent experience in an acute UK hospital setting; experience in a clinical teaching role or equivalent.
* Desirable: experience in scrub and anaesthetic or dual role in theatres; OSCE experience; leadership course.
Knowledge and Skills
* Practice Assessor and Supervisor; theatre practitioner; presentation skills; time management.
