Principal Clinical Psychologist (TESS) – 12 months maternity cover
Organisation: Birmingham Children’s Trust – Therapeutic & Emotional Support Service (TESS)
Location: Birmingham (hybrid role). You must reside within a suitable commutable distance and have the right to work in the UK. We do not sponsor visas.
Hours and pay: 21.9 hours per week (pro-rata). Grade 6: £52,431 to £64,811 (with market supplement) up to £72,311 (depending on experience).
Responsibilities
* Undertake a broad range of duties including specialist assessment, developing shared formulations in complex presentations, delivering therapeutic interventions (individual, dyadic, family and/or group), consultation, teaching and training, and liaison with partner agencies.
* Provide supervision, contribute to service development, evaluation and, where appropriate, research.
* Act as clinical lead for the Foundations for Attachment Therapeutic Parenting programmes; provide DDP-informed reflective practice groups for professionals; maintain a caseload of dyadic work.
* Work within a multi-disciplinary team including clinical psychology, systemic family therapy, play therapy and other therapeutic social workers; utilise a range of approaches (e.g., DDP, CBT, DBT) in line with best available evidence and innovative practice.
* Support care-experienced children and young people (up to age 25) and collaborate with families, carers and professionals across the Trust and partner services.
Qualifications and experience
* Significant experience of working with childhood trauma and attachment-related difficulties.
* Post-qualification training in attachment and trauma-informed approaches and models of therapy is desirable.
* DDP training (Level 2 or Practicum) is desirable due to clinical lead responsibilities and reflective practice facilitation.
* Experience working with care-experienced children and young people; ability to work in a complex, high-demand environment; strong communication and supervision skills.
