Consultant in Emergency Medicine (A&E) Milton Keynes Contract Type: Locum or Permanent Shifts: Daytime & Overnight Available (7-day service) About the Role We are seeking highly skilled and motivated Consultants in Emergency Medicine (A&E) to join a busy and well-established Emergency Department in Milton Keynes. The service operates 7 days per week with both daytime and overnight shifts available, offering flexible options for clinicians seeking locum or permanent appointments. In this role, you will provide senior clinical leadership within a fast-paced Emergency Department, ensuring high-quality, timely care for patients presenting with a full spectrum of acute conditions. Key Responsibilities Lead the Emergency Departments clinical team, providing expert senior decision-making. Assess, diagnose and manage patients presenting with acute illness, injury, resuscitation needs and trauma. Supervise and support junior doctors, ACPs, nursing teams and allied health professionals. Ensure patient flow is maintained, supporting achievement of the 4-hour standard and reducing bottlenecks. Collaborate closely with other specialties including Acute Medicine, Surgery, ICU and Trauma. Contribute to departmental governance, quality improvement, pathway redesign and service development. Provide leadership and stability during high-pressure situations, including overnight and weekend work. Requirements Full GMC Registration with a licence to practise. CCT (or CESR equivalence) in Emergency Medicine. Proven consultant-level or senior EM experience.
