Homelessness Prevention and Solutions Officer

Salary Range
£38,976 to £47,229 per annum (One Permanent and One Fixed Term – until March 2028)
Hours
Fulltime – 36 hours per week
Responsibilities
* Provide proactive and collaborative support to households that are homeless or threatened with homelessness
* Maintain a personal caseload of households and agree practical, reasonable steps for the Council and the household to prevent or relieve homelessness
* Carry out home visits to assess homelessness and the sustainability of the applicant’s current housing
* Deliver flexible and responsive services from our offices, ensuring comprehensive housing advice is available for customers, staff and partner agencies
* Write reasoned decision letters, produce detailed case notes and assessments of a high standard
Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience
* Experience working within a customer service, housing or lettings service
* Experience of carrying out interviews, investigations and negotiations
* Experience of effective record keeping, including electronically held information
* Experience of working with people who are homeless or in other stressful situations
* Experience of working successfully to performance targets and deadlines
* Excellent interpersonal skills, including active listening and negotiating
* Excellent communication skills, including the ability to write detailed case notes and technical letters
