Our Ornamental Gardeners
As an Ornamental Gardener,you'll play a vital role in maintaining and developing our stunning gardens to exemplary standards. From nurturing plant health and perfecting presentation,to engaging with visitors and sharing the story of our estate,your work will ensure that every guest experiences the gardens at their very best. You'll also support events and contribute to the long-term vision of our horticultural spaces.
Key Responsibilities
* Maintain,improve,and present designated garden areas to the highest horticultural standards.
* Contribute to wider projects and maintenance programmes across the ornamental gardens.
* Assist with the preparation,delivery,and close-down of estate events.
* Represent The Newt's garden history and vision through visitor engagement.
* Lead and participate in guided tours to enrich the guest experience.

What we're looking for
* Hard-working,energetic,and reliable with clear,courteous communication.
* Well-organised with strong time management and attention to detail.
* Genuine interest in the outdoors and working with plants.
* Patient,methodical,and committed to high standards.
* Minimum of two years' horticultural experience in a comparable environment.
* Competence with garden machinery,hand tools,and physically demanding work.
* Strong knowledge of plant care,modern gardening techniques,and H&S procedures.
* Full UK Driving License required (RHS Level 2/3 or equivalent qualifications desirable).
Where you'll be working - Our Garden Team
The Gardens Team (Ornamental,Kitchen Garden,Nursery,Woodlands & Turf) is dedicated to understanding,developing,curating,protecting,and managing The Newt's living collection of plants,in an environment where visitors are encouraged to experience and learn about plants,garden history,habitats and to enjoy the gardens. The team runs several events and workshops for our visitors over the year which include the popular daily garden tours.
