This is a hybrid role based either at our Hull or Watford site, with occasional travel between locations.
We are seeking a dynamic Global Category Leader for our Capital Equipment & Equipment Maintenance (GCL CAPEX) Category to lead initiatives and drive excellence. You will own the category strategy, oversee significant expenditure, and manage supplier and stakeholder engagement globally. Expertise in category management is essential to deliver innovative solutions aligned with operational and manufacturing goals.
This role offers the opportunity to lead sourcing projects end-to-end, optimize demand management, and enhance supplier performance and innovation. You will define specifications, improve vendor relationships, and execute strategic plans. Reporting to the Global Category Director, you will be part of a collaborative and courageous organization.
Responsibilities include:
* Develop and own category strategies aligned with business objectives, gaining stakeholder approval and ensuring clear communication.
* Achieve cost savings targets for CAPEX categories and analyze supplier, market, and internal data.
* Identify and mitigate supplier risks, address performance issues, and ensure compliance with procurement policies.
* Lead projects based on the CAPEX strategy, contributing to the Annual Procurement Category Plan.
* Manage supplier relationships through segmentation, critical metrics, contract negotiations, and governance activities, including executive reviews.
* Collaborate with strategic suppliers to promote innovation and support Smith+Nephew's innovation agenda.
* Supervise a small team, ensuring alignment with category strategy and stakeholder communication.
Requirements for success:
* Extensive procurement experience leading global category strategies, particularly in Capital Equipment & Equipment Maintenance.
* Knowledge of MRO, Facilities, and Real Estate categories is advantageous.
* Professional qualification such as CIPS or equivalent is preferred.
* Strong ability to develop strategic supplier relationships, drive cost efficiencies, and lead procurement initiatives.
