About the role: Join our deep-water fleet, operating year-round from Cape Reinga to the Ross Sea. Our vessels can be at sea for up to 12 weeks, catching, processing, and packaging seafood onboard to deliver the finest New Zealand seafood worldwide.

Responsibilities include:

* Maintaining and repairing marine engineering systems, including diesel-electric propulsion and electric trawl winches.
* Troubleshooting technical issues to ensure smooth operations.
* Optimizing fuel efficiency and environmental impact.
* Ensuring health and safety protocols are followed and systems are compliant with maritime regulations.

About you:

* Hold a Minimum MEC 5 or MEC 4 Certificate of Competency (or equivalent).
* Proficient in marine engineering systems, with experience in diesel-electric propulsion and trawl winches preferred.
* Experience in maintaining marine vessels, including refrigeration systems.
* Knowledge of New Zealand maritime regulations such as MOSS, HSWA, Fisheries Act, and MPI food safety standards.
* Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively in isolated environments.

About the fleet: Sanford operates a diverse fleet including deepwater and scampi vessels, delivering premium seafood globally. Our deepwater vessels target species like hoki and squid, operating in the Southern Ocean for up to 6-8 weeks. Our scampi fleet targets scampi in New Zealand waters, with onboard processing and freezing.

Applicants must be eligible to work in New Zealand. Our recruitment includes pre-engagement checks such as criminal history, drug and alcohol testing, and medical assessments.
