A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join BEAR Scotland's SE bridges team as an Engineering Tradesperson.
The South East Unit includes 870 bridges and structures, including the iconic Queensferry Crossing and Forth Road Bridge, as well as other major bridges such as the Kincardine Bridge and Clackmannanshire Bridge. Trunk roads in the South East serve as a vital link for Scotland’s economy, ensuring thousands of daily journeys and deliveries are carried out safely.
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Engineering Tradesperson to join the Major Bridges Maintenance Team. The role involves installing access systems (such as underdeck staging and overhead cradles), minor metal work repairs and installations, operating bridge gantries on the Forth Road Bridge/Queensferry Crossing, and other locations within the SE Unit. The role also includes routine and cyclic maintenance activities and schemes valued up to £1,000,000 at South Queensferry Depot.
This is a full-time role.
Responsibilities include:
* Carry out cyclic maintenance tasks on FRB and QC.
* Install bridge access systems (cradles, underdeck access platforms).
* Perform minor fabrication and installation works.
* Adhere to Health & Safety legislation.
* Operate bridge access systems (gantries).
* Assist other trades as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
* Current experience/qualification in an appropriate Engineering discipline, typically SVQ 3 or higher.
* Ability to work to strict deadlines.
* Ability to work as part of a team.
* Ability to work at heights.
* Ability to work in confined spaces.
* A full UK driving licence.
