Maintenance Engineer - Up to £40 per hour
Location: Middleton
Shifts: 3‑week rotational pattern - 6-2 / 2-10 / 10-6 (nights)
Rate: Up to £40 per hour (depending on experience)
Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Engineer to support the reliability, performance, and safety of plant and equipment within a busy block foam manufacturing environment.
This role is electrically biased, with a strong focus on planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive fault finding.
Key Responsibilities
Planned Maintenance
* Perform scheduled PPM on production machinery, control systems, and site utilities.
* Inspect, test, and maintain electrical systems including motors, drives, PLCs, and instrumentation.
* Ensure all maintenance activities are completed on time and accurately logged in the CMMS.
* Identify and implement reliability improvements to reduce downtime.
Reactive Maintenance
* Respond quickly to equipment breakdowns and diagnose electrical faults.
* Support production teams to restore operations safely and efficiently.
* Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Continuous Improvement
* Contribute to maintenance strategy development and long‑term reliability planning.
* Support equipment upgrades, modifications, and new installations.
* Drive improvements in safety, performance, and operational efficiency.
Key Skills and Experience
* Electrically qualified (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent)
* Experience in manufacturing or process industries (chemicals/foam advantageous)
* Strong electrical fault‑finding skills across:
o PLCs and control systems
o Motors, drives, electrical distribution
* Ability to work effectively across both proactive PPM and reactive maintenance.
