If you're a Senior Bid Writer who thrives on complex, high value bids, where the quality of the story genuinely influences the outcome, this is a role where your expertise will really stand out.
Why this role is different
You’ll sit within Capita’s Win Centre, a centralised specialist function supporting some of the largest and most strategically important public sector opportunities in the organisation. These include multi‑million‑pound pursuits, long‑cycle bids and complex, multi‑workstream programmes that require clear thinking, persuasive storytelling and absolute attention to detail.
This is not a copy‑and‑paste environment. It’s a role for Senior Bid Writers who enjoy shaping the narrative, applying judgement, and owning the written quality of high‑stakes submissions.
The role
As a Senior Bid Writer, you’ll take ownership of the storytelling and written quality of bids from early strategy through to final submission, working as part of a dedicated bid team led by experienced Capture Directors.
You’ll be responsible for:
* Leading the development of clear, compelling and client‑focused proposal content aligned to the win strategy
* Storyboarding responses in partnership with Capture Directors, shaping how Capita’s solution is positioned
* Turning complex technical input from SMEs into persuasive, easy‑to‑understand narrative
* Owning writing quality from end‑to‑end, ensuring consistency, compliance and impact across submissions
* Editing, reviewing and refining content to a high professional standard under tight deadlines
* Coaching contributors on proposal best practice and improving overall bid writing capability
You’ll work closely with Bid Managers, Capture Directors and Solutions teams within a structured, collaborative bid environment, contributing to some of Capita’s most high‑profile pursuits.
What we’re looking for
This role will suit an experienced Senior Bid Writer who takes pride in quality, enjoys working at pace, and wants exposure to large‑scale, high‑value bids.
You’ll bring:
* Proven experience leading the written response for complex, high‑value proposals, ideally within public sector or similarly regulated environments
* Outstanding writing, editing and storytelling skills, with the confidence to shape content direction
* The ability to interpret technical information and apply judgement rather than relying on boilerplate content
* Strong stakeholder management skills, with confidence working with senior contributors and SMEs
* Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to maintain quality under pressure
Experience of Local Government, Regional Partnerships or high‑TCV, long‑cycle public sector bids is highly desirable, as is familiarity with APMP methodologies or best practice.
What’s in it for you
* A competitive basic salary with a win related commission structure with genuinely high earning potential, rewarding your contribution to successful, high value bids
* The opportunity to work on high‑profile, complex public sector bids that genuinely matter
* A role with real ownership over quality and narrative, not just document production
* Homeworking, with some client travel where required
* Clear development pathways within a growing, specialist function
