Payroll & Pensions Officer
The salary range: between £39,834 and £44,859 pro-rata depending on qualification and experience.
This role is part-time (minimum 25 hours); the precise hours are negotiable as there may be some scope to take on additional duties if appropriate. The College is able to support flexible working arrangements where appropriate and is happy to discuss requirements at interview.
Peterhouse is the oldest College in Cambridge (founded in 1284) and is among the smallest (currently 291 undergraduates; 176 postgraduates; 43 Fellows). The College provides a vibrant community for its Fellows, Junior Members, and staff.
The post-holder will be responsible for the day-to-day administration of the monthly payroll and pensions (comprising approximately 220-250 individuals), whilst complying with the relevant laws and guidelines.
The post-holder will need to maintain the College’s payroll systems and provide analytical support to the Finance Manager, HR Manager, and Senior Bursar.
The post-holder will also deal with day-to-day queries from staff and Fellows arising from payroll and pension matters. The post-holder will be expected to work within the Finance team and to operate independently with limited supervision and support in their payroll tasks.
The post-holder will be expected to have at least 2 years of recent experience of running a payroll and sound knowledge of the UK tax systems. In addition, the post-holder will be required to maintain absolute discretion and confidentiality in dealing with sensitive and confidential matters relating to College members. The post-holder will also be expected to possess sound planning, organisational, and problem solving skills to meet deadlines.
