Job Opportunity: Fitter (Permanent) Location: Christchurch, Dorset Salary: £19-19.50 per hour A leading aerospace manufacturer based in Christchurch is looking to hire a skilled and detail-oriented Fitter to support high-specification assembly work on precision components. This is a great opportunity to join a well-established team working on a variety of projects in a fast paced manufacturing environment. About the Role As a Fitter, you’ll be involved in the assembly and fitting of precision aerospace parts using jigs and fixtures, working to tight tolerances and engineering specifications. You’ll be expected to uphold high standards of quality and safety while contributing to a collaborative and supportive team environment. Key Responsibilities * Carry out detailed fitting and assembly work using jigs and fixtures * Work to tight tolerances in a high-specification manufacturing environment * Interpret and work from complex engineering drawings and technical documentation * Support other manufacturing operations where required, such as sheet metal or surface preparation (vacuum blasting, etc.) * Ensure adherence to Health & Safety regulations and site procedures * Perform visual inspections and quality checks throughout the process * Maintain a clean and organised working area ✅ What We’re Looking For * Minimum 3 years’ experience in a fitting or related role within manufacturing * Experience in jig work and familiarity with close tolerance assembly * Good understanding of engineering drawings and specifications * Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach * Familiarity with Health & Safety regulations in a workshop or factory setting * Experience in additional manufacturing functions (e.g. sheet metal, vac blasting) is advantageous * Relevant engineering qualification or time-served apprenticeship Working Hours * Monday to Thursday: 7:00am – 3:30pm * Friday: 7:00am – 12:00 noon (Early Finish!)
