Southend City Council are looking to appoint a detailed-oriented and proactive Contracts Officer to support the effective management and delivery of their waste and recycling contracts. This is a great opportunity to contribute to environmentally responsible services and help deliver value for money across high-impact contracts. As Resources and Recycling – Contracts Officer, you will support effective and robust contract management of Southend City Council’s Waste Disposal and Waste Collection and Street Cleansing contract arrangements. You will ensure that the required legislative guidelines and best practice approaches are undertaken to enable excellence in service delivery, value for money, maximising opportunities for cross cutting and joint working with external partners. You will support the planning, development, integration and implementation of specific works programmes, reactive maintenance and services which aim to ensure that resource management in Southend aligns with national best practice and is both safe and sustainable. You will ensure that service customer response targets are continuously met and improved upon in relation to the waste disposal and waste collection and street cleansing contracts. To meet the needs of the business, you will be required to attend occasional evening meetings. To be successful in this position, you must have working knowledge of the range of relevant, principles, practices, and statutory procedures relating to service area. It is vital that you have previous experience of working in a waste / resource management setting (minimum 2 years). You must be able to communicate effectively to different stakeholders across different levels. Your application will not be considered if you do not have a full and valid driving license. It is important that you have either: HNC or degree waste management, environmental sustainability or related discipline or equivalent knowledge and experience within a relevant field, or have a Contract Management qualification.
