About the Role and Key Responsibilities
As a Dance Teacher / Cover Supervisor working with TailorEDucation, you will play a vital role in inspiring and developing the creativity, confidence, and physical skills of secondary school pupils. This exciting opportunity is perfect for individuals with a strong background in dance performance, choreography, or teaching who are looking to take their next step in education.
You will supervise lessons in the absence of the class teacher, manage classroom behaviour, and deliver pre-prepared learning activities across a range of subjects. Your expertise in dance instruction and motivating young people will be invaluable in creating engaging, positive learning environments and encouraging students to express themselves through movement.
Key Responsibilities Include:

Delivering engaging and inclusive dance lessons across various styles (e.g. ballroom & latin, contemporary, jazz, ballet, street, or commercial)
*
Supervising classes during teacher absences
*
Managing pupil behaviour and ensuring a safe, supportive learning atmosphere
*
Delivering pre-set lesson materials and activities across different subjects when required
*
Encouraging creativity, teamwork, and self-expression through dance
*
Supporting pupils’ confidence, wellbeing, and personal growth both in and outside the classroom

The Ideal Candidate – Experience and Attributes
The ideal candidate will have:

Recognised dance teaching qualifications such as IDTA (International Dance Teachers’ Association) or UKA (United Kingdom Alliance of Professional Teachers of Dancing)
*
Experience teaching or choreographing for groups of children and young people
*
Strong communication, leadership, and motivational skills
*
A passion for inspiring creativity and confidence through dance
*
A professional, positive, and adaptable attitude
*
The ability to work flexibly across a range of subjects and age groups
*
A genuine desire to develop a career in education or the performing arts
