The Company
Chirton Engineering designs, manufactures, and services bespoke equipment, vessels, precision components, and remote handling systems. We provide specialist engineering services to the Nuclear, Defense, Oil & Gas, Motorsport, Pharmaceutical, and Renewable industries, drawing on over 120 years of experience.
Key Responsibilities
* Set up and operate CNC machines: prepare the machine for the task, program it, and oversee operation.
* Monitor and adjust machine settings to maintain optimal efficiency and quality.
* Inspect finished products for accuracy and quality.
* Troubleshoot and resolve issues with CNC machines.
* Collaborate with engineers to optimize manufacturing processes and support continuous improvement.
* Ensure personal and team safety by following company procedures and best practice.
* Ensure compliance with environmental responsibilities.
Qualifications & Skills
* Previous experience as a CNC Mill operator.
* Knowledge of CNC machinery, tooling, and precision measurement tools.
* Experience with Mazatrol and/or Siemens controls is advantageous.
* Ability to read and interpret mechanical documents and drawings.
* Mechanical aptitude and strong math skills.
* Keen eye for detail and results‑driven approach.
* Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including standing for prolonged periods.
* Right to work in the United Kingdom.
Compensation & Benefits
Pay ranges from £17.97 to £20.24 plus a shift allowance of £5.99–£6.74 per hour for standard machinists. Experienced 5‑axis machinists receive £23.00 plus a shift allowance of £7.65. Additional benefits include:

We offer a 4‑day working week (Monday‑Thursday, 37 hours per week), flexible start and finish times, and three work patterns (night shift, day shift, or two weeks day‑two weeks night rotation). Overtime is paid at time and a half, up to 12 weeks company sick pay, and a 26.5‑day annual leave inclusive of public holidays.
