Banking Paralegal

Role Overview
Reporting to a team of fee earners and working alongside a Central Support Unit (CSU), you'll be responsible for handling key aspects of transaction management and file administration, with an emphasis on precision, client care, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
* Support the legal team and property support with
Companies House
and
Land Registry registrations
, including handling requisitions where required.
* Assist with
redemption processes
:
* Drafting of release documents
* Obtaining redemption statements from clients
* Preparing completion slips
* Liaising with the borrower's solicitor
* Provide support on
completion tasks
, such as:
* Completion day checks
* Conducting priority searches
* Drafting completion statements
* Transferring funds
* Set up and manage
portfolio checklists
,
condition precedent schedules
, and internal transaction trackers to ensure smooth file progression.
* Help maintain and submit timely
matter progress reports
to clients, ensuring clear communication and updates.
* Communicate professionally and courteously with clients, solicitors, and internal teams via phone and email, relaying messages and updates promptly.
* Carry out full
administration of legal files
, including:
* File opening and closure
* Billing and financial tracking
* Recording undertakings
* Archiving and compliance checks
* Draft and proofread legal documentation, including:
* Bank standard security documents
* Completion undertakings
* Formal correspondence with tracked changes
* Assist with managing fee earner diaries, tasks, and key deadlines using digital tools, ensuring no compliance or timing issues.
* Collaborate with the
Central Support Unit (CSU)
to delegate and track administrative support tasks effectively, particularly during busy periods or absences.
* Ensure adherence to firm policies and external regulations, including:
* Anti-money laundering
* SRA Code of Conduct
* Data Protection (GDPR)
* Solicitors' Accounts Rules
Person Specification
Essential:
* Excellent organisational and task management skills.
* Strong IT skills including
Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams
, and legal databases.
* Experience using
legal case management systems
(Partner for Windows or similar preferred).
