What the job is:
The Fleet Operations Manager will be a positive, outgoing, and natural leader who can connect with others and establish strong working relationships. The role involves leading a team, following safety guidelines, creating strategies to improve efficiency and mobile asset utilization, and aligning operational and financial goals. The manager will analyze mobile asset data to identify bottlenecks and opportunities for improvement, maintain accurate inventory records, and manage relationships with suppliers, carriers, and service providers. Negotiating contracts for favorable terms and ensuring reliable partnerships are also key responsibilities. The role includes training, mentoring, and leading team members with an emphasis on safety, accountability, and continuous improvement. CPI is a safety-minded company, so adherence to safety policies is essential.
* Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or related field, or three years of equivalent experience and/or training, or a combination of education and experience in transportation or logistics management, preferably in agriculture or a related industry.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills with a focus on customer service.
* Proficiency in data analysis tools and strong analytical skills.
* Proven leadership and team management abilities, emphasizing safety and employee development.
* Working knowledge of business computer skills (Microsoft Office, accounting, databases, internet software).
* Excellent negotiation and communication skills for managing vendor and stakeholder relationships.
* Strong business acumen, including time management, planning, organization, and decision-making skills.
* Knowledge of DOT regulations, safety standards, and agricultural logistics.
* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to seasonal demands.
