<div><h3>Mental Health Nurse – Eating Disorders</h3><p><b>Closing date: 29 June 2026</b></p><p>Location: Corporation Street, Stafford. This is a permanent position working 30 hours per week.</p><p>Role summary: The Children and Young Peoples Eating Disorders Day Service is recruiting a Band 6 Registered Mental Health Nurse to provide specialist, intensive, evidence-based support for children and young people with moderate to severe eating disorders. The role delivers flexible, person-centred care tailored to each young persons needs.</p><h3>Main duties of the job</h3><ul><li>Independently and comprehensively assess clients referred to day care, plan care, monitor physical and mental health risks in conjunction with the MDT and MEED guidance, evaluate and contribute to discharge planning.</li><li>Develop in collaboration with the young person and their families/carers/loved ones their care plan, risk assessment, recovery and risk management plan.</li><li>Assess and manage ongoing risks as identified during assessment, ensuring that this is done in collaboration with young people, their families/loved ones and carers. Regularly review risk factors and make changes to the management of them as necessary.</li><li>Provide holistic support to clients through individual key working sessions.</li><li>Lead/contribute to mealtime supervision and support. Deputise for the Day Care Clinical/Operational Lead when necessary and lead on shift coordination.</li><li>Carry out a range of therapeutic interventions with the young person in concordance with NICE guidelines, either individually or in a group setting.</li><li>Offer support, supervision and mentoring for students on placement, following successful completion of mentorship course. Supervise other CEDS professionals and offer support and supervision to junior team members.</li><li>Provide clinical and managerial supervision to staff nurses and trainees and maintain accurate and up-to-date records in line with Trust policy.</li></ul><h3>Qualifications</h3><ul><li>First Level Mental Health Nurse with current professional registration with NMC.</li><li>Post‑registration experience and/or evidence of formal courses and training at postgraduate diploma level.</li><li>Clinical Supervision Training.</li><li>Recognised Psychological Interventions Training, e.g. CBT, FT‑AN, AFP.</li><li>Quality Improvement Methodology Training.</li><li>Recognised Management or Leadership Qualification.</li></ul><h3>Experience</h3><ul><li>Experience of developing, delivering and evaluating specialist programmes of care and risk management plans.</li><li>Evidence of successful mentoring and/or supervision of junior members of staff including students.</li><li>Evidence of improving service delivery in line with evidence-based practice.</li><li>Demonstrable experience of effective multidisciplinary team working.</li><li>Experience of working in an eating disorder setting.</li><li>Experience of managing a team of staff.</li></ul><h3>Disclosure and Barring Service Check</h3><p>This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.</p><h3>Contact</h3><p>Project Clinical Lead: emily.jones5@mpft.nhs.uk</p></div>
