The Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health are offering fully funded NIHR Clinical Lectureships in the following specialties and themes:
* Neurosurgery / General Surgery / Plastic Surgery
* Obstetrics and Gynaecology / Ophthalmology / Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery
* Paediatrics / Dermatology / Neurology
* Digital theme: Emergency Medicine / Histopathology / Rheumatology
* Multiple Long Term Conditions theme: Cardiology / Clinical Genetics / Intensive Care Medicine
* Primary Care and Community Care theme: Endocrinology and Diabetes Mellitus / Renal Medicine / General Practice
There may also be opportunities to obtain a Clinical Lectureship in any clinical specialty currently supported by the Manchester Integrated Academic Training (IAT) programme. These positions will be offered in addition to the NIHR posts advertised above and are supported through joint funding from The University of Manchester and local NHS trusts. It is anticipated that NIHR recognition will be sought for any individuals appointed to these roles.
Both types of Clinical Lectureships are designed to offer postdoctoral support for a clinician having recently completed a higher degree (PhD, MD or equivalent). Trainees must also have a National Training Number (NTN) prior to starting the post. The University invites exceptional and ambitious applicants to join our successful Integrated Academic Training (IAT) programme which was awarded to the Faculty by the National Institute of Health Research Trainee Academy. Successful candidates will be expected to have evidence of clinical leadership.
The post will be funded on a full-time basis for the duration of remaining specialty training (until CCT) or a maximum of 4-years, whichever is soonest. Appointments will be subject to satisfactory annual review. You will spend 50% of your time undertaking research and developing your academic skills and 50% time completing specialty training. It is expected that the Clinical Lecturers will have applied for National Clinician Scientist Awards within the 4-year period.
Salary
Hospital Medicine CLs: £65,048 - £73,992 (plus any relevant national pay awards pending and pay premia, if applicable)
Primary Care CLs: £85,732 - £111,133 pro rata per annum (plus any relevant national pay awards pending)
Please note appointments will be made to the 2016 scale unless you reached ST3 before August 2016.
