Hearing Dogs for Deaf People, whose mission is to see a time when no deaf person feels alone, is seeking a senior, experienced fundraiser to manage and deliver a successful strategy to secure income from charitable trusts, foundations, lotteries and institutional funders.
Hearing Dogs for Deaf People has been creating life-changing partnerships between hearing dogs and deaf recipients since 1982. As well as acting as an ear to their partners and alerting them to sounds, the charity’s clever and expertly trained dogs help deaf people to live life with confidence and independence, whilst providing love, companionship and emotional support.
Following on from a strategic review, the charity is now looking to build a new Income Generation Directorate, to enable them to transform many more lives across the UK. The Head of Trusts and Foundations will play a central role in this growth, helping Hearing Dogs deliver their goals to diversify income, expand their philanthropy and high-value programmes, and increase engagement and impact.
The role of Head of Trusts and Foundations will play a key part in the charity’s new fundraising programme, helping to secure long-term, high-value grants that underpin their mission and impact. As well as leading a team of trust fundraisers and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to develop compelling proposals and reports, the post-holder will cultivate and steward a pipeline of new and existing funders.
Hearing Dogs are seeking candidates that can provide strategic leadership, successful bid-writing experience and excellent relationship management skills to maximise income and influence. A track record of securing significant grants (six and seven (£) + figures) from a wide range of sources will be essential. Candidates must be strategic thinkers and collaborative team players, with strong communication skills and the ability to translate complex information into compelling narratives about Hearing Dogs’ work. Previous experience of scaling up an existing Trusts and Foundations function would be an advantage.
This is an exciting opportunity to shape and build a high-impact Trusts and Foundations team at a moment of huge growth for the charity, with the flexibility of working remotely or spending time at Hearing Dogs’ stunning bases in Buckinghamshire or Yorkshire, with friendly and passionate staff and their four-legged friends.
