This role is to join the Enterprise Architecture team to advise, design and govern the Job Architecture (Workday) solution landscape to ensure the Workday Technology solution directly support the future business landscape. This role will be reporting to the Principal Architect Enterprise with alignment to the Domain Architect. The person will own and document the end-to-end architecture design of the solution with the Job Architecture project team. The solution will need to align with Customer’s strategic direction to ensure the future proofing of Customer’s Workday Technology system.
The solution architect will be working directly with the Job Architecture programme team and be supported by Enterprise Architecture Team to ensure all solutions designs meet the Customer requirements and business case.
The Solution Architect will work with the business and Technology teams to produce the Solution Architecture Design including the applications, integrations, data/information, security, service, device, infrastructure. They will work on projects to ensure they are delivered to agreed architecture standards within Customer. A key responsibility will be to build the solutions in accordance with the design, meet business objectives and enable handover to support function.
Tasks
* Responsible for the end-to-end design for Job Architecture at Customer in collaboration with Job Architecture project team, Technology and Business stakeholders.
* Achieves design approval in conjunction with Customer’s Architecture Design Authority and Technology governance.
* Provides thought leadership in Solution Design, Product Architecture and Technology strategy, create cost-optimised, scalable solutions, and provide innovation and efficiency within solution design / improvement.
* Provides detailed guidance to multi-functional teams through project planning and other large collaboration efforts. Fosters an environment of open communication and problem solving.
* Develops long term vision of technologies and solutions in the space. Collaborates with Technology leadership in planning and implementing of technology roadmaps. Assists the team in researching solutions, solicits input from outside industry experts and recommends solutions to meet business requirements.
* Develop the solution and technical acceptance criteria to ensure the integrity of any proposed solutions across our Tech estate and enable communication to relevant stakeholders.
* Support delivery projects in accounting for solution infrastructure from an operational and supportability perspective and that all non-functional requirements (including SLAs (Service Level Agreement) for business continuity, availability and scalability, security) are addressed in the solution.
* Ensure that the solution architecture balances functional, service quality and operational management requirements but remains bound by relevant commercial, business function and technical constraints.
* Ability to provide direction and take design ownership for projects which are delivered by a highly technical team that supports a complex environment which includes:
* o Workday and People Systems Solutions
* o Batch processes, Payroll, Time, and Attendance applications
* o Data design
* o Integration design
* o Experience of various design techniques
* o Familiar with Service Design and Introduction
* Negotiate with key stakeholders involving prioritisation of projects and resources.
* Responsible for identifying cross directorate and cross project dependencies, risks and activities and negotiating resolution to conflict.
* Input to development of product roadmaps and designs and solutions at technical level.
* Providing Technical design assurance for new project and technical system upgrades and enhancements for both the business and suppliers, particularly in SaaS/PaaS/Cloud. Thus, ensuring standardisation of system delivery.
Requirements
* Educated to degree level in a Computing or business discipline or equivalent.
* Exposure of mission critical High Availability design and deployment in large transaction volume environments.
* Previous experience of managing complex integration projects in a highly pressurised environment is a prerequisite.
* Experience of setting and managing project development with a wide range of vendors to support solutions in a multi-country environment.
* Previous experience of managing large scale development projects is required.
* Successful design of HRIS solutions particularly in large complex retail organisations - experience of implementing Workday is preferable.
* The Technology Solution Architect must be an excellent communicator, an effective problem solver and be well able to motivate an existing strong technical team.
* Experience in TOGAF and ITIL methodologies and designing delivering using these.
* Experience in use of Enterprise architecture tools such as Ardoq.
* Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally to a wide range of people at all levels including communicating complex technical issues to non-technical user base.
* Experience identifying and understanding user issues and managing user expectations.
* Pro-active and hands on - responds purposefully to events.
* High level of energy, curious minded, a positive can-do attitude.
* Ability to operate within a highly pressurised and fast paced environment, consistently delivering results and achieving corporate objectives on time and within the agreed parameters.
* Ability to travel within Europe and work flexible hours as required.
