Salary: £47,000 - £53,000 per annum
Reports to: Senior Cancer Intelligence Manager (Prevention and Epidemiology)

Contract: 12 month fixed-term contract / secondment
Working hours: 35 hours per week (we are open to compressed hours or 4 days part-time)
Location: Stratford, London w/ high-flex (1 – 2 days per week in the office)

We need you to manage a small team of analysts/senior analysts delivering analysis and interpretation around the prevention of cancer. You’ll provide sign off for project outputs and messaging to be used externally and within CRUK, maintain links with CRUK teams and external partners, and develop objectives and priorities for CRUK’s prevention analysis workstream in collaboration with colleagues.
Cancer Research UK’s Cancer Intelligence (CI) team is part of the Evidence & Implementation (E&I) department within the Policy, Information and Communications directorate. The E&I department drives impact for people affected by cancer by placing evidence at the heart of the charity’s work and shaping cancer policy and practice across prevention, early diagnosis, treatment, outcomes, inequalities and innovation.
Responsibilities
* Manage the analysis and interpretation of statistical information related to cancer prevention to inform the charity’s policy, information and influencing functions
* Ensure insights are generated in a timely fashion
* Oversee delivery of analytical projects from development to completion
* Line manage analysts/senior analysts, coaching and supporting them to deliver projects and develop their skills
* Project-manage analysts/senior analysts in a matrix structure on prevention and agree ways of working with line managers
* Oversee the development and quality assurance of prevention statistics messaging for external and internal use, with responsibility for review and final sign-off; contribute to sign-off on general statistics and press enquiries, meeting tight deadlines as needed
* Develop and maintain knowledge of PIC’s strategic priorities and contribute ideas for data/analysis projects that align with priorities and evidence gaps
* Ensure statistical information is adapted/communicated for a range of audiences, including non-statistical teams
* Attend/chair CRUK working groups and other forums to become a recognised expert and obtain insights on emerging priorities
* Compile regular progress reports against project plans for key stakeholders, manage stakeholder engagement and communications, and ensure decisions can be made at key milestones
Qualifications & Skills
* Significant knowledge or experience of working in an analytical or statistical environment
* Experience of project management and matrix management of projects
* Experience of people management
* Proven track record of building and nurturing effective relationships with diverse stakeholders
* Confident self-starter, able to manage own workload and hold self and others accountable for delivery
* Excellent problem-solving skills and a can-do attitude
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to translate complex statistical data into messaging for varied audiences
* Awareness of technical skills, including database knowledge, SQL, STATA, R or similar, and advanced Excel would be an advantage
* Degree in statistical or epidemiological field or equivalent work experience
* Some knowledge and understanding of cancer and/or health statistics
