Role: ESOL Mentor/Trainer
Location: Liverpool (L1) - on-site only; travel between L1, L2 and L3 postcodes may be required. Hours: Full-time (37.5 hrs pw). Salary: £26,000 per year, pro rata. Contract type: Temporary (Sessional Work Agreement).
Summary
Join Standguide as an ESOL Mentor/Trainer to help adults improve their English language skills and gain confidence for daily life and employment. You will provide instruction in classrooms and community settings, supporting learners to access employment opportunities.
What you'll do
* Deliver a variety of training and one-to-one support designed to prepare the customer for securing employment, including via work placement or trials leading to employment.
* Train customers in ESOL, employability and functional skills aligned with local labour market needs and employer requirements. Complete relevant customer documentation per company procedures.
* Carry out inductions and basic assessments to identify transferable skills, strengths and experience, including ESOL assessment in literacy and numeracy.
* Provide one-to-one support to develop English skills, conduct job search sessions, explore the local labour market and secure interviews with employers.
* Provide ICT-focused job search skills, including using PCs, laptops and tablets to apply for jobs online, create electronic CVs, complete online applications and use online job sites (e.g., Find a Job).
* Collaborate with employers, training providers and other agencies to strengthen the service, including booking sessions within the course.
What you'll need
* Level 2 English and Maths as a minimum.
* PTTLS or equivalent trainer/teaching qualification.
* Desirable: PGCE or PGDE; other appropriate training qualifications.
* Experience of delivering training and/or teaching people of all ages (minimum 1–2 years).
* Experience of delivering ESOL training.
* Experience working with individuals claiming income support and the barriers they face; knowledge of Jobcentre Plus programmes and incentives for unemployed people.
* Full UK Driving Licence would be desirable.
* Overseas equivalent qualifications accepted.
