How you will make an impact
Cabrini Pathology is a multidisciplinary pathology laboratory operating 24/7 and provides a quality service for the rapid diagnosis of disease and subsequent patient monitoring. As a Laboratory Assistant at Cabrini, you will be responsible for the routine processing of Pathology specimens in a professional and efficient manner.
Key responsibilities will include:
5. Receiving or accessions of specimens into the laboratory in a timely and accurate manner
6. Processing specimens and taking appropriate action if specimen identification criteria are not met
7. Referring specimens to external testing laboratories per documented procedures
8. Performing testing, either on analysers or manually, to obtain results for reporting
9. Performing internal quality control procedures and taking appropriate action if controls are out of range
About you
You will be a motivated individual with a passion for providing quality service while growing your career.
You will also have:
10. Completion of VCE or equivalent with at least one subject in a scientific area
11. Experience in a pathology laboratory preferred
12. Excellent communication skills to assist with telephone enquiries and ability to report to the ward or doctors in a professional manner
13. Proficient computer skills and ability to perform required data entry, SRA or laboratory computer result entry as required
14. Awareness of and compliance with all procedures as well as ability to maintain confidentiality in all matters
15. Excellent organisational, time management and prioritising skills
16. Ability to prioritise work and perform work efficiently
17. Ability to work autonomously without supervision, as well as cooperatively as part of a team
