Overview
This is an exciting fixed term consultant cardiologist post based between Aberdeen Royal Infirmary (ARI) and Dr Grays Hospital (DGH). The post-holder will join a team of eleven cardiologists. The successful applicant will be based in the Department of Cardiology at ARI, Aberdeen and DGH, Elgin. NHS Grampian serves a population of 620,000, including patients from NHS Orkney and NHS Shetland.
The Cardiology Department runs a busy out-patient department with general cardiology and chest pain clinics, as well as regular specialist clinics in complex heart failure/devices, arrhythmias, valve disease, cardiomyopathies and adult congenital heart disease. A monthly familial arrhythmia clinic is run in collaboration with clinical genetics. Peripheral general cardiology clinics are held in community hospitals around Aberdeenshire and in Dr Grays Hospital, Elgin. The in-patient cardiac department comprises a 10-bed coronary care unit and a 30-bed in-patient cardiology ward within the Emergency Care Centre, plus a 12-bed day case ward near the cardiac catheterisation labs.
Responsibilities
* Full-time, fixed term Consultant Cardiologist post based at ARI with travel to Dr Grays Hospital, Elgin.
* Provide General Adult Cardiology Receiving (currently on a 1:11 basis) with weekend ward rounds.
* Commitment to six out-patient clinics per week, which may include peripheral clinics.
* Contribute to inpatient and day-case cardiology services within the Cardiology Department and related units.
Qualifications
* Full registration with a licence to practise with the GMC (licence must be in place prior to starting).
* For UK-trained applicants: evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or be within 6 months of confirmed entry on the GMC Specialist Register from date of interview.
* Alternatively, applicants should possess a CESR / CESR (CP).
