Bury Council is embarking on an exciting new chapter. With a reshaped HR/OD management team and a refreshed strategy for the borough, we are focused on delivering improved outcomes for our communities and creating a thriving, inclusive place for all who live and work here. We are developing our People Strategy that will set out our aspirations and shape the work of the HR/OD service for the next five years.
We are seeking a dynamic and forward-thinking HR Advisor to join our People and Inclusion Service. This is a unique opportunity to work at the heart of transformation, supporting directorates across the Council to drive performance, enable cultural change, and deliver services that make a real impact on the lives of Bury’s citizens.
This role is a career graded role, and we are looking for someone to join us at either:
What you’ll do:
1. Work with managers to resolve workforce challenges.
2. Provide advice and guidance on a wide range of HR matters, with a focus on employee relations casework and organisational change.
What we’re looking for:
1. Proven experience in an HR advisory role within a complex organisation.
2. Attention to detail and a proactive, solutions-focused mindset.
3. Commitment to customer service and a passion for public services.
Why Bury?
We’re proud of our borough’s heritage and excited about its future. We have an outstanding development offer and have supported CIPD studies for many of our HR colleagues. We work in a modern and agile way, with full-time colleagues attending the workplace at least two days per week to build relationships and collaborate. With a bold vision and a committed leadership team, Bury Council is a place where your ideas, expertise, and energy will be valued and where you can truly make a difference. LET’S do it!
Normal hours of work are 37 hours per week, based around the usual business working week. Dependent on service requirements, you may be required to work on a rota basis.
